Please note that this update has been slightly revised and reposted to provide greater clarity on the claims process.
This is a reminder that starting this month, all processes for the 60’s Scoop have resumed. Reinstating all processes includes reinstating deadlines for applicants who need to provide more information about their claim.
Throughout March and April, we are contacting people directly in writing to let them know what actions they need to take by what date.
For some people—the reinstatement of deadlines will have no impact at all. However, if you receive a letter with a new deadline, please make sure you note what actions you need to take and by what date. This deadline will be specific to your case, the action required, and the date that your letter is issued.
Below is a table of standard deadlines for common letters.
Type of Letter | Standard deadline |
Notice of Intent to Reject Individual Payment Application | 45 days from issue date of letter to claimant |
Notice to Applicant – Reminder Letter | 30 days from issue date of letter to claimant |
Official Rejection of Individual Payment Application | 30 days from issue date of letter to claimant |
Some people may receive official notices that their claim is ineligible.
Meanwhile, we will continue to actively review, assess, and approve applications as appropriate.
Remember, support is available. For those who receive a letter with a deadline, Class Counsel is available to help you at no cost to you. You can find contact information for the legal teams on the “Contact Us” section of the website.
